A week or two ago, I finally decided to upgrade my phone and switch from Android to iOS – with an iPhone 4. I’ve been holding out for the Droid Bionic, but after all of the trouble that my Droid has been giving me, the serious lack of apps for services I use, and the constant freezing, I decided to just go ahead and upgrade. What’s the point of paying extra for a smartphone plan if you can’t use your smartphone? It was literally freezing, even when I tried to make calls or check my email – pretty much every time I tried to wake it up or turn it on. After deciding that I was going to switch to iOS, I was going to wait for the iPhone 5, but I can’t wait until Fall. I’m guessing our area back home won’t even have 4G access for a few years anyways.
So… I’ve been using the phone for a little while now, and I am so glad I switched. All of those services I use that I could never get apps for are available on iOS. Although MOG is available on Androids, it’s a pain to use. On iOS MOG and Hype Machine’s Hype Radio are just excellent. Hype Radio lags a little, but overall, it’s great. I already use MOG through the Chrome web app at work and being able to access my playlists, listen to new stuff, and download all of the songs and albums that I desire for offline use is awesome. The best part is, it is totally lag free and the interface is superb. I can actually use my phone for music now, hassle free, and it’s wonderful. When I have a strong signal or just want something new, I try Hype Radio. When I know that I want to listen to my favorites or I need to listen offline, I switch to MOG. Heaven.
I am totally in love with streaming music. I know, the record labels don’t get as much money, but honestly, they get more from me than before I switched to streaming.
With MOG I can make playlists, favorites, get introduced to new stuff with their Pandora-like radio slider, listen at a desktop, listen on mobile devices (offline and online), save whole albums with one click, and have never had any trouble finding any artist or songs I’ve wanted (with the exception of one or two). My only wish for MOG is that they would hurry up and make an iPad app. Hype Machine is also excellent. I get introduced to stuff I’d never go out and look for. Once I find something I like I can search in MOG and download it or add it to a playlist. Best of all, they both are scrobbled by Last.fm. I’m in love.
