Recently I’ve been seeing more and more articles and blog entries about using your standard cellphone on the go for everything from getting numbers to keeping notes and to do lists. More and more I’m enjoying reading the blog at lifehacker.com. They wrote a great entry called Manage your life via SMS. I checked out quite a few of the services listed there, as well as a few they mentioned in later entries.
For To-Do Lists there is a few off hand.
- Remember the Milk
- Jott
- ReQall – My personal favorite. Just call the number and follow the directions. Instantly emails or texts you what you said. You can set up daily reminders and summaries. Really useful on the go.
Then there’s Twitter. You can not only post your microblog updates, but post to Google Calendar as well. Or just send Google Calendar a text message.
Google is also useful in two other ways. One, for searching by sending an SMS. Or two, Google 411. Amazingly useful. I use it all of the time. You call Google 411 and then say the city and state you’re looking for, then the name of the business or say something like “pizza” to find all of the nearest pizza places. Then they’ll even connect you instantly.
There’s also things like Quicken Beam to keep track of balances on everything from bank accounts to credit cards. I’m sure there’s many more. To keep track of gas milelage, etc. If you’re interested, try a search. Never know what you’ll find. I can’t wait until the new iPod Touches get announced tomorrow. I’ll write more on some apps once I get to try those out. Getting things done on the go has never been easier.
