I found this site on the forementioned creativebits.org and had to share it. It’s an archive featuring a whole bunch of really creative advertisements. Check out adsoftheworld.com when you get a chance.

great find – creativebits.org

// March 27th, 2008 // No Comments » // design

I was searching for “business card ideas” the other day and one of the top Google results was at creativebits.org, an entry titled Cool business card designs. There’s some awesome examples of samples collected. I hadn’t thought to think that far out of the box before. Amazing ideas. Check it out if you need some inspiration for your own identity project.

P.S. There’s also a Part 2.

another recommended WIRED read

// March 27th, 2008 // No Comments » // tech

Alright, so I hadn’t read through the entire magazine yet. One more article from this month’s WIRED Magazine: Futurist Ray Kurzweil Pulls Out All the Stops (and Pills) to Live to Witness Singularity. Sorry, I just think Kurzweil and his ideas are incredibly interesting. Throughout high school and college, I chose to write several papers on him and his visions for the future. For more on Kurzweil, check out Kurzweil Technologies.

recommended articles – from this month’s WIRED

// March 25th, 2008 // No Comments » // tech

This month’s WIRED Magazine had some really great articles (as usual). Among my favorite reads this month was WIRED’s Geekster Handbook, a Field Guide to the Nerd Underground. The six categories were as follows: The FanBoy, The Music Geek, The Gamer, The Gadget Guy, the Hacker, The Otaku. Although there are parts of several descriptions that I could associate with (The Music Geek and The Gamer), I have to say The Gadget Guy (or Girl :razz: ) description fit me pretty much all the way:

4. The Gadget Guy - Disposition: Sociable while waiting in line on launch day; ferocious in comments on Gizmodo. Seemingly unflappable in the face of early adopter’s remorse (aka Apple Newton Syndrome). Beliefs: I can fix that. There’s no god but MacGyver. The price will drop in a month, but I need it now.Turn-Ons: Unboxing videos. Backup batteries. Blue LEDs. Laser pointers. People who RTFM. Things that make loud clicking sounds. (Quoted from forementioned WIRED Magazine article.)

Thank God for shiny electronics. :grin: (more…)

oops! fixed blog

// March 25th, 2008 // No Comments » // housecleaning

Alright so I actually will be updating my blog now. For anyone who came and visited, I apologize for the page links that led to blank pages. Or the default WordPress “blogroll.” Those have been changed to sites that I visit on a regular basis and that I find helpful in keeping up to date with the digital world. I will add more pages later…for now, I have added a link to my portfolio.

My portfolio site is up and running at mepriestley.com. Note: The site uses Flash 8, so make sure you have at least 8, if not 9 (the newest version) if you want to see the site as intended.

new blog up and running

// March 3rd, 2008 // No Comments » // housecleaning

Alright. So unforunately, I had to restart my blog. On the good side, all of my sites are now on my DreamHost account.  Few more tweaks to go and I’ll start posting regularly again.
